Southern California Gas Company used 4,804 NASA files (MicroStation DGN format) to represent the pipeline network. The network data and a group of customer loaded information were needed in Stoner, a pipeline modeling software, but in a different format. MRF was awarded this project to automate the preparation of input files for the Stoner system. Major tasks of the project included:
-
Development of a new pipeline network data model for NASA data in the GeoMedia Pro environment
-
Migration of NASA data into the GeoMedia Pro environment
-
Development of a data validation program to find the data problems
-
Use of MRF Clean to clean the network
-
Development of software tools to associate text with geographical features
-
Development of software tools to trace tags and transfer them into attribute columns
-
Development of software tools to load features and their corresponding attributes.
MRF’s programming capability and GIS knowledge are demonstrated in this project.
