Southern California Gas Company (“The Gas Company”) is one of the largest gas companies. The Gas Company needed to plot many hard copy maps on a daily basis to support engineering planning, maintenance of gas facilities, and meter reading. In April 1999, The Gas Company awarded MRF a contract to develop a web-based plotting application. In November 1999, The Gas Company received from MRF the web-based plotting solution which minimized staff training, lowered software maintenance costs, and provided more flexibility (plotting can be done from various offices, homes, hotels, etc.). The major tasks of this project were:

Analyzing client’s requirements and identifying potential problems

Designing and developing web based plotting capability

On-site implementation and staff training
So far, MRF has successfully completed the NASA plotting project and the ATLAS plotting for The Gas Company. To shorten server processing time, MRF used its C++ based DGN library to perform the feature extraction and clipping.
